Influenced by his brain damage due to a traffic accident.
In this work, Duifhuizen refers to artist Bas Jan Ader (Winschoten, April 19, 1942 – Atlantic Ocean, 1975). In 1970, Ader positioned himself before the camera, weeping for over three minutes. I'm Too Sad to Tell You is a silent black-and-white film. Duifhuizen builds on this with his own silent films and writings.
At the age of thirty-three, Ader set out alone in a small sailing boat to cross the Atlantic Ocean. He disappeared during the voyage, and about ten months later his empty boat was found off the coast of Ireland.
